LIVING IT UP AT THE BEACH

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

The clients were a professional couple with young family building a new architecturally designed home, and wanted a functional kitchen with a large walk in pantry for food storage and positioning of small on-bench appliances to be utilised often. An adjacent bar/shelving area would house a beverage fridge for entertaining.

The home was a contemporary style with a dark exterior and large apex roofline following through into the living area ceilings. The position and shape of the kitchen was dictated by the space and was positioned perfectly in the centre of the home adjacent to the main living areas and alfresco dining.

Our client was a previous contestant on MasterChef so had firm ideas around appliances and sink specification - the location of these was critical. Having stainless steel benchtops around the sink & hob area were a must for her also. I wanted to introduce some timber into the design to soften the white & concrete surroundings, doing so with the framing of the back wall and feature under panels on the island. The Laminex Aged Ash introduced the warmth we were after with the accent of the Laminex Blackened Legno which tied beautifully with the dark stained cedar on the exterior of the home.
